Health Secretary Sajid Javid has confirmed, on Times Radio, that the government will be making a u-turn on the vaccine passport policy. Night clubs, sports venues, and cinemas will not be mandated to ask for customers’ health certificates despite speculations.
Mr Javid described vaccine passports as a “huge intrusion into people’s lives”.
He said, “if the government is going to propose anything that is going to infringe on people’s freedoms it better have a really, really good case.” And unless you’ve got that case, you should not be proposing it.”
According to PoliticsForAll, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has also indicated that Downing Street will be giving up on a number of Covid measures such as the power to close businesses, restrictions on events and gatherings, mandating schools, and detaining infectious people.
