The Prime Minister has lifted the spirits of the wedding industry by announcing the limit on the number of people who can attend weddings in England will be scrapped from 21st June. But, strict social distancing rules will remain, and rules on singing and dancing will also stay.
Mr Johnson confirmed the 30-person limit on wedding ceremonies and receptions will be removed as planned, as he announced the delay to the lifting of all Covid restrictions.
From 21st June any limits on wedding guests will be set by venues based on social distancing requirements.
Other restrictions being eased before the new Freedom Day on 19th July – will see at least 40,000 football fans allowed inside Wembley to watch the Euro 2020 semi-finals and final.
The Wimbledon tennis championships will also have full capacity crowds to watch the women’s and men’s final, the first outdoor sporting event in the UK to do so since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
