US President Joe Biden has arrived in Cornwall ahead of the G7 summit this weekend.
The President and First Lady arrived at Cornwall Airport Newquay late last night.
On his first overseas trip as US President, Mr Biden and his wife disembarked Air Force One where they were greeted by a guard of honour on the runway – including members of the military and local officials.
Speaking to military personnel Mr. Biden said:
“The UK and US, as founding members of Nato, are part of the strongest military and political alliance in the history of the world.
“Now we need to modernise our alliance, investing in our critical infrastructure, our cyber capabilities and to keep us secure against every threat we’ve faced over the last decade, and the new challenges we are about to face as well.”
The couple then got into a dark Chevrolet and departed the airport just before midnight.
